Heat Alert for Parkside Residents

Parkside residents,

As everyone is aware, we are under an extreme heat watch.   Please check on your neighbors during these hot days.   If you do not have air conditioning and are using fans, please keep your windows open so that you do not create a conventional oven situation.

Please remember to drink a lot of water and, when outside, to stay in the shade, when possible.  The symptoms of being overheated or heat stress may be faintness, rapid heartbeat, nauseated feelings, headache, confusions or cramping.

It is  especially important for those with lung, heart, or kidney issues to avoid being overheated during this hot weather.  If you feel overheated, you may use a cool, wet cloth, and please continue to sip water.  If you find that you are throwing up, faint, or have body cramps that last more than 1 hour, please contact 911 for medical assistance.

The nearest approved cooling station would be the Helen Furness Library, on Providence Road and, of course, our Borough Hall during normal business hours.  This may be a good time to take in a movie, visit the local indoor shopping centers, or visit with someone who has air conditioning.

Thank you,

Parkside Borough Council and Mayor
