Parkside Update: Emergency Services After Crozer Closure

Dear Parkside Borough Residents;

Unfortunately, as we are all aware, Crozer Hospital has closed.  Parkside Borough Council would like to update our residents to let them know the current information concerning this situation.

We are working with neighboring communities to look into various possibilities for an Advanced Life Support unit (ALS) for our Boroughs.   These talks will continue to make sure that we provide the best quality of service for the most cost efficient means.   The various community leaders will not rush into any contract without exploring all avenues.  Regionalization of this service appears to be the most cost-effective way to proceed.

Delaware County Council has given our region, Region #3, for 90 days, the availability of a Mainline Health - Riddle Hospital, ALS unit to be stationed at the Middletown Fire Company.  Their paramedics will handle any life-threatening issues, with local ambulance services doing the transport of a patient.   This wonderful news gives local leaders some breathing room to explore every and all options for future outside services and explore the financial aspects.

Our district includes Brookhaven, Upland, and Chester Township.    As many may know, the City of Chester and several other communities have already signed a contract with a private company for their emergency needs.

Please be assured that we are exploring all options and will keep you informed as we go through this process.

Thank you,

Parkside Borough Council and Mayor
