Parkside Pet Corner : Sweigart Pups

Not very long ago, in a neighborhood not very far away, an intergalactic litter of puppies with a proud Beagle lineage were born. Mom and resident dog-cougar, Rey, a beautiful 3-year-old Beagle, with the DNA chops to prove it and her boy toy, Mace, a 1-year-old Beagle who has the papers to prove his heritage met and in joyful harmony created a family of five outrageously active pups. These new additions to our Parkside pet community were born on May 14, 2022, between midnight and 7:00 am and were welcomed with clean towels and open arms into the family of our very own councilmember, Perry Sweigart. Four females; Rose, Tico, Padme, and Leia and one lone male, Chewy are now part of the family and as puppies have a tendency to become, the center of their own chaotic universe.

As of the date of this article the heroes of the rebel alliance are six weeks old and have the energy one would associate with human toddlers. They are either asleep, eating or getting into trouble in that order and we already have some well-established troublemakers in this pack. Leia is as feisty as her warrior namesake and if she is not starting trouble, she is putting a quick end to it. While Tico is the gentile lady of the group, who avoids the rough housing to get a snuggle with the closest human in her vicinity.

Fresh off their first check-up with the neighborhood’s beloved Dr. Kwon of Brookhaven Veterinary Hospital, the pups have now moved onto soft puppy food, puppy milk and the errant hard treat their mother accidentally left behind. Not yet on leashes, you can see these beauties being carted around the neighborhood by their human family in their wagon, enjoying the fresh air and all our little town has to offer.
