Parkside Elementary Proud of Me Day

Written by Parkside Elementary Students

Proud of me day was a very fun experience for all the kids in school to show who they really are. We saw a lot of dancers, artists, and more. But let's talk about those puzzle pieces. WOW! Those really showed tons of personality. Everybody showed a different personality inside and out. For our first Proud Of Me Day it was quite a blast!

Some 5th grade students who got a Spotlight Interview. Rebeca Rivera, Alexa Wilcox, Evan Scott, and last but not least Elizabeth Robb. Their outfits really stood out to everybody in the school. Rebeca was on her pointe shoes for ballet, Elizabeth was dressed as a ballerina, Evan was dressed as a Hip-Hop Dancer, and finally Alexa was dressed as an anime character Runa Yomozuki from Kakegurui. She was dressed as that because she does cosplay.

Thank you to everybody who dressed up or participated in Proud of me day and thank you to the teacher PBIS committee for all your hard work to make this day happen.

Proud of me day took place on October 29th, 2021. It was a day where students and teachers could dress up as something that they are proud of. It is a day to show your personality and who you are meant to be. Some students dressed up as dancers, chefs and even workers! On this day, teachers sometimes let their students share what and why they chose to dress as what they are proud of.

I decided to interview a few students to see how they felt about proud of me day.

¨It was a good way to express myself" -Rebecca Rivera

¨It was something that kids can show what they like¨ -Abdul West

Fossil Finding in South Carolina

By Joey O’Kane

Do you like fossils? If you do I recommend taking a trip to South Carolina to go fossil finding. In November my dad took me on a fossil finding trip to the coast of South Carolina. The trip was so much fun! We even took a plane to get there! The first part of the trip was the best because we were searching for shark teeth. I found the best tooth ever! I found a 3 ½ inch megalodon tooth that could be 2.6 million years old. I was so excited when I found the tooth. I couldn’t believe I actually found it! During the second part of the trip we went on a boat to an island to search for shells. There we found moon shells, conch shells, and even sand dollars. I had the best time searching for fossils and shells. So if you are a fossil fan you should check out the rivers and beaches of South Carolina. You never know what you will find.
