June Good Neighbor Award: Eleathea Ford

Eleathea Ford

“From the moment I moved in, she has always been a warm and caring neighbor. Anyone who greets you with 'I feel like I know you already, C'mere give me a hug' and can continue that warmth while knowing me for 14 years deserves an award. She always says Hi to everyone on the street and treats everyone like family.” - Beth Hale

Eleathea, who goes by Lee, moved to Parkside from West Philly in 2006 looking for a safe place to raise her two sons. Lee’s kind and joyful demeanor radiates out into the neighborhood, as she pauses to wave and say hello to her neighbors while standing outside to accept her award. Given her friendliness and good nature, it’s no surprise Lee had a long career in public service helping others. She worked as a social worker and was employed with the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging for over 3 decades.

Lee is looking forward to spending her retirement in Parkside relaxing. Her youngest grandson helps keep her healthy and active and she loves to join him to play and dance. Lee was presented with a $25 gift certificate to Phil & Jim’s as a thank you from the Parkside Communications Committee for making Parkside a better place. Perfect timing too, as her birthday is in June, and Parkside is happy to help make it an extra special one.
